Full time (80 hours/2 weeks) 

Days Shift - 8:00am -4:30pm, Flexible Start Time

Monday - Friday

Remote flexibility for Weekend and Holiday rotation

General Summary:

Under general supervision, provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.  MNT includes assessing, planning, and monitoring all nutrition related care.  Ensures quality care, patient satisfaction and good public relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Uses parameters such as anthropometric measurements, nutrition focused physical examination and interpretation of laboratory values to assess the nutritional status of neonates/infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and /or geriatric patients.
  2.  Develops, revises and individualizes the nutrition care plan based on information gathered from the patient, patient’s significant other, medical record and health care team members.
  3.  Incorporates evidence based research into practice.
  4. Utilizes physician/referring practitioner driven protocols or other facility specific processes to initiate, implement or modify diet orders and nutritional supplements.
  5. In coordination with the physician/referring practitioner implements and monitors enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  6. Documents all relevant aspects of nutrition care for patients in the EMR in accordance with department and institutional standards. 
  7. Assists patients with developing a support plan and behavior changes to ensure continued improvement in nutrition status and disease/condition prognosis.
  8. Represents clinical nutrition at multidisciplinary teams, task forces and project groups.
  9. Orients, mentors and trains staff and dietetic interns.
  10. Participates in department and facility wide quality improvement measures to improve processes, quality of patient care, and customer and patient satisfaction. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition or related field and Completion of an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) approved program and Completion of ACEND accredited, supervised practice program
  • 0-1 years to include supervised practice experiences or on the job experiences.
  • Knowledge of foods/nutrition; food preparation; production; supervisory/instructional techniques required
  • Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) Certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) OR recent supervised practice program graduate who must obtain the Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) Certification within 90 days of starting in this job
  • Pennsylvania State Licensure of Dietician-Nutritionist (LDN) OR must obtain Pennsylvania LDN within 6 months of starting in this job
  • Nutrition Support Dietitian certification (CNSD) preferred
