Communications Analyst-Senior
Job Description:
Under general supervision, installs and maintains microcomputers, terminals, printers, communication hardware, network operating systems and telecommunication systems supporting the System. Assists, as needed, with the provision of telephone support to users of data processing, microcomputer, data communication and telecommunication systems including problem recognition, research, isolation and resolution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes, recommends, installs and maintains voice and data communications systems.
- Performs upgrades and modifications to existing networks, telecommunication systems and related hardware.
- Inspects voice and data communication equipment, microcomputers, terminals and printers for damage; makes complex repairs or returns to vendors for replacement.
- Analyzes system level hardware and/or software failures and takes corrective action.
- Supports the installation of network cabling and/or verification of voice and data integrity over the cable.
- Ensures prompt and courteous feedback to requestors of services.
- Develops training programs for Communications staff members on computer hardware, telecommunication equipment and networks.
- Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
Qualifications

- On call responsibilities (rotation)
- Minimum Experience:
- 5 - 8 years
- Must have Telecommunications experience (Avaya, ASCOM)
- Installation and repairs of VOIP systems
- Minimum Education:
- Associate's Degree preferred
- Required Courses:
- Computer science, telecommunications and electronics
