Position Summary:

General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director (Medical Affairs) provides central data resources to clinical and medical staff leadership. Supports the measurement and monitoring of quality indicators and progress towards metrics primarily at the physician level and at department, hospital and system levels as indicated.

Duties and Responsibilities:


   1  Coordinates and analyzes clinical data for the purpose of developing data into useable, understandable information to improve patient care and delivery, identify opportunities for improvement and obtain desired reportable and patient outcomes.

   2  Provides consultation regarding data analysis and interpretation to clinicians, leadership and others. Works collaboratively to provide consistent, meaningful information to all levels of the organization, including the information provided to the Hospital Board of Directors.

   3  Serves as a liaison between the Hospital and other entities.

   4  Facilitates conversations and assists staff to identify and translate quality outcomes into a change in practice (e.g., policy, procedure, process, protocol, etc.).

   5  Uses problem analysis skills and critical thinking to collect and analyze data, propose solutions, develop and write reports, letters and materials needed to achieve desirable results as requested. Able to manage advanced database and spreadsheet applications (e.g., formulas, linking calculations, graphing and reporting).

   6  Works collaboratively with others to develop strategies to successfully anticipate and meet outcome-based quality initiatives internally and externally.

   7  Works directly with department and quality committee chairs to develop and maintain physician dashboards for re-credentialing, accountability for quality initiatives, financial performance, workload, etc..

   8  Provides oversight of focused and ongoing peer review for all medical staff departments in a timely and effective manner from the development of an infrastructure to identify and screen concerns for review through the critically-important actions and follow-up with specific physicians and providers. Coordinates multidisciplinary approach to clinical concerns by working closely with nursing and other ancillary departments.

   9  Maintains professional knowledge of peer review requirements of external agencies, along with best practices for peer review and strategies for successful outcome-based quality initiatives internally and externally. Meets with external agencies during investigations and complaints as needed.

  10  Designs and implements a system for planning, organizing and controlling workflow and reporting related to physician dashboards and peer review.



Required Skills

Minimum Education           

Bachelor's Degree in a pertinent health related field

Minimum Experience 

2 - 3 years   Healthcare with excellent interpersonal and written and oral communications skills; knowledge of statistical analysis, spreadsheet and other software programs

Pref Cert/Registration 

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); or LPN/RN
