Clinical Manager (RN) - Behavioral Health Inpatient Services

  • 26-bed Inpatient Unit, providing psychiatric care for ages 14 through older adult including diagnostic assessment, stabilization, and individualized treatment programs
  • Interdisciplinary team approach to care
  • Therapeutic groups and family treatment based on recovery curriculum, led by the staff from nursing, care coordinator and occupational therapy
  • Care Coordination
  • Full time (36 for 3 weeks and 48 for 1 week each 4-week schedule)
  • Shift: 7pm-7am (12-hour night)
  • Weekend and Holiday as needed

General Summary

Supports Nurse Manager by directing and guiding professional and support staff on a single nursing care unit with shift responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes hospital-required reviews, e.g. HIPAA, safety, health screening, care concerns, and others as assigned.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Completes required reports (e.g. PI Dash Boards, benchmarks, etc.) on time.
  • Insures that 100% of all employees have current licenses, completed yearly health checks, CPR, orientation or re-orientation, where applicable.
  • Completes 100% of employee evaluations on time, in a thoughtful and constructive manner. For non-bargaining employees, follows established guidelines for recommended increases.
  • Displays ability and skill in budget development, monitoring, and remaining within budgetary limits. Flexes costs downward when necessary, especially when scheduling and monitoring hours worked.
  • Evaluates operations from a workflow perspective and responds appropriately, redesigns per customer needs and competitive benchmarks.
  • Utilizes appropriate mechanisms to solve problems and resolve conflict. Directs staff to do same.
  • Attends and actively participates/leads unit-based meetings, serves on Department of Patient Services committees and/or task forces as requested and as appropriate.
  • Keeps Director updated regarding unit/personnel/patient activities.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to role changes necessitated by unit activity, organizational change and future direction.
  • Works with staff to improve ownership of their practice, process and performance.
  • Acts as effective resource for staff and demonstrates leadership through clinical practice, coaching, supervision, teaching and professional attitudes and behaviors.
  • Advocates to ensure that goals/expected outcomes for patient care are set mutually with the patient and pertinent others.
  • Facilitates student experiences through cooperation and collaboration with faculty.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Fosters a practice environment that supports interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Self schedules to maximize effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with staff to eliminate the hospital acquired condition of falls.
  • Collaborates with staff to eliminate the hospital acquired condition of pressure injuries.
  • Collaborates with staff to eliminate the hospital acquired condition of C Diff.
  • Collaborates with staff to minimize overall patient harm.
  • (Family Birthing Services only) Collaborates with staff to identify, address, and decrease the rate of Post-Partum Hemorrhage.
  • (Behavioral Health Services Inpatient only) Attains specified outcomes for Hospital Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS) core measures.
  • Performs other related duties as identified.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Diploma Program Nursing Required
  • Bachelors Degree Nursing-within 36 months of hire Required

Work Experience:

  • Less than 1 year Applying customer service behaviors and communication skills Required
  • 2 years Acute care in area of specialty Preferred
  • 2 years Management and leadership Preferred

Licenses:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
  • Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Ongoing continuing education particularly in area of expertise and in leadership Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS only for ICU, CCU, IMCU, SDS, PACU, PAT, Pain Services, ETU Upon Hire Required
  • PALS only for PACU, Pediatrics Upon Hire Required
  • NRP only for Perinatal Upon Hire Required
