Position Summary:

General Summary:
Under general supervision, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Crisis Intervention Department. Provides crisis intervention services such as assessment, counseling, referral and follow up. Maintains appropriate records and conducts orientation sessions for community referral resources.


Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Performs work of a similar nature.
2 Trains other employees in day to day procedures.
3 Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses and statements.
4 Provides guidance, support, and crisis intervention as appropriate at the time of initial telephone contact with clients, and schedules initial office visit.
5 Conducts assessment interviews to determine client problems and needs, and initiates, develops, evaluates, and modifies the treatment plan based on those needs.
6 Provides and documents consultative services to emergency departments throughout the County.
7 Ensures continuity of care through close follow-up on all cases until a reasonable level of problem resolution is accomplished.
8 Implements crisis intervention measures when indicated, including behavioral and group counseling, suicide and escape precautions, and controlling aggressive behavior.
9 Researches, utilizes, and monitors community resources.
10 Develops relationships with community agencies, groups, professional affiliations as appropriate.

Required Skills

Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills required

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree required.

Supervisory experience preferred.
