Cardiac Sonographer- PRN

1-2 days per pay and flexibility for coverage

Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Director-Noninvasive Cardiology, and the department supervisor performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures at an intermediate skill and knowledge level.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations such as, adult echocardiograms, preps and acquires stress echocardiograms, pediatric echocardiograms, 3D echo, research studies, assists the physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms, operative transesophageal echocardiograms, and transcatheter aortic valve replacements.
  2. Supervises, assists, and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
  3. Obtains intravenous access and administers intravenous contrast agents such as Definity and Optison. Performs Saline Bubble Studies.
  4. Prepares preliminary echocardiogram reports and measurements for physicians.
  5. Performs portable tests in patient rooms when necessary.
  6. Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably.
  7. Explains procedures to patients.
  8. Clerical duties such as, scheduling patients, ensuring accurate billing codes, answering phones.
  9. Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts Biomed Department for major malfunctions.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer
  • 1 year experience required
