Building Technician II - York/Adams County - Days, Rotating Weekends On Call

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Foreman, must have full competency in one core engineering trade and must have intermediate skills in a second core trade. The core engineering trades are: Carpentry, Mechanic, Plumber, and Electrician. The benchmark for intermediate skills test is listed below by trade. This position does take home a company vehicle and will travel to multiple sites in York/Adams counties 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. The following are essential job accountabilities; Carpenter:

       1  Performs all essential job duties of the Painter position.

       2  Builds walls using metal studs, various wall boards, finishing with tape and drywall compound.

       3  Installs flooring including VCT, and sheet goods. Knowledge of floor adhesives and floor grout required.

       4  Installs hand rails, chair rail, wall protection plates, cove base, trim and various wall mounted fixtures.

       5  Installs suspended ceilings including grid layout, leveling, and cutting of ceiling tile for custom fit.

    The following are essential job accountabilities; Mechanic:

       6  Performs repairs to semi-complex mechanical devises, intermediate repairs to litters and beds, and PM of belt driven equipment, and food preparation equipment.

       7  Able to install air regulation and drying equipment.  Basic understanding of pneumatics and control devices. Knowledge of plumbing for high pressure gases.

       8  Basic plumbing abilities such as pipe threading, application of fittings for piping systems, and welding/soldering.

       9  Intermediate troubleshooting skills for auto doors, OR tables, ice machines, medical gas outlets, fan coils, and pumps air/liquid, tube system.

      10  Basic electrical skills required proving competency for working with voltages to 480v and experience troubleshooting control circuitry.

      11  Fundamental understanding in refrigeration theory and ability to perform basic repairs and PMs on refrigeration equipment.

      12  Ability to service lighting fixtures (i.e. install ballasts/bulbs).  

      The following are essential job accountabilities; Electrician:

      13  Understands Ohms Law, National Electrical Code, OSHA lock and tag, and how to read electrical schematics.

      14  Ability to install EMT, rigid, flexible metal and rigid non-metallic conduit. Install distribution panels, size breakers, fuses, and size branch circuit wiring.

      15  Ability to use multi meter to check voltage and continuity.

      16  Understand the NEMA plug and receptacle configurations.

      17  Understand lighting installation and lighting controls for dimming, occupancy sensing, and 2/3 way switching.

     

    The following are essential job accountabilities; Plumber:

      18  Understand methods involved in joining of pipe materials such as copper, black iron, Cast iron, and PVC using techniques such as soldering, brazing, plastic cement, pipe threading, and no hub sleeves.

      19  Basic understanding of domestic water, sanitary waste and steam systems with the ability to make repair or troubleshoot flow problems in the facility.

      20  Ability to read riser diagrams and plumbing schematics. Basic understanding of plumbing fixtures and related installations for sinks, toilets, water heaters, eye wash stations, mixing valves, sprinklers, and drinking fountains.

      21  Basic knowledge of different valve types such as globe, ball, gate, check, and pressure relief.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License, Driving History will be checked
  • Minimum Experience:
    • 2 - 3 years
    • Required Cert / Training As required in specific core trade job description
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School or G.E.D.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry 26 to 50 lbs)
    • Frequent prolonged standing/walking
    • Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
    • Manual dexterity and mobility
    • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
