Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Master Baker, performs a variety of tasks and operations to prepare and bake specialty food items, following standard practices and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and bakes items such as muffins, desserts, cakes and pastries, including icings and frostings, using standardized recipes. Monitors baking process, cuts and portions finished baked goods for distribution.
- Reviews daily menu and assembles supplies and baking equipment as needed for daily baking activities.
- Consults with supervisors concerning special items, evaluation of new recipes, etc.
- Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.
- Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as identified.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience:
- 3 - 6 months
- Minimum Education:
- Less Than High School
- Physical Demands:
- Moderate physical effort (lift/carry 11 to 25 lbs)
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking
