Under the general supervision of the Deputy General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel - Employment assumes increasing responsibility to provide legal guidance and support for employment matters.  The Associate General Counsel will be primarily responsible for providing legal advice on a wide spectrum of labor and employment issues and must have substantive experience in and knowledge of healthcare law, employment law, researching and drafting legal agreements as well as general corporate, privacy, and compliance matters.  The Associate General Counsel is a remote position.

Responsibilities: 

Provides legal guidance and support for various System activities and issues. 

Reviews and makes recommendations on proposed contracts and complies with all legal requirements. 

Studies proposed and existing legislation and advises on areas of concern. 

Provides legal advice with respect to administration and prepares resolutions and forms. 

Provides support for the System's risk management activities by anticipating and guarding against legal risks to the System. 

Participates in monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and provides education to board, management, physicians and other staff. 

Assists the Deputy General Counsel by handling complex legal matters or projects as assigned. 

Assists in overseeing outside counsel. 

Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of Law (JD) 

  • Licensed to practice law in PA or able to obtain license within 6-months 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney in employment law. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare law environment at a law firm or in the legal department of a healthcare organization.
