Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Controller, assists in overseeing system wide accounting functions and activities related to the budgeting and forecasting of financial data. Provides financial leadership and works collaboratively with operational management in financial oversight and business counsel which include, but are not limited to, general financial analysis, planning, budgeting, performance improvement, new business or service development feasibility analysis and development of other fiscal management processes to support operations leadership with management of their fiscal performance. Contributes to ensuring the overall continued financial success of the System in the continuous pursuit of the fulfillment of its Mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Directs and assists general accounting staff in recording and posting transactions to general ledger and preparing monthly financial reports. Coordinates month-end and year-end reporting for multiple entities, preparing accruals and schedules and submitting monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages. Supervises accounting staff.
  2. Interacts with senior management on monthly financial performance and operational oversight. Collaborates with operations leadership in developing and monitoring relevant financial performance metrics and financial data to determine profitability and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Facilitates and/or prepares annual budgets in coordination and liaison with operating managers.
  4. Monitors cash balances, invests excess cash and reconciles investment accounts.
  5. Directs and assists in the preparation and filing of returns for federal, state and local income taxes, mercantile taxes and payroll taxes.
  6. Ensures maintenance and integrity of accounting systems. Assist in upgrade and new implementations.
  7. Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  8. Significant involvement in support of the annual audits

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 5 years

 

  • Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree

 

  • Preferred Certification:
    • Certified Public Accountant/MBA

 

  • Required Courses:
    • Accounting/finance

 

  • Skills:
    • Cost finding, analytical skills
