Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Sr. Director of Reimbursement and Financial Analysis, this position is responsible for compiling complex reimbursement related data to ensure accurate and complete filing of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports. Supports and works collaboratively with financial & operational management on reimbursement issues, but are not limited to, medical education, wage index, disproportionate share, and bad debts.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in coordinating, preparing, and submitting facility Medicare and Medicaid cost reports using data from the general ledger and various other systems.
  2. Responsible for maintaining purchased services, contract labor, and professional fees schedules to support wage index reviews. 
  3. Work with Residency Programs Department to develop and maintain rotations schedules and to complete Intern and Resident Information System (IRIS) schedule to support IME/GME reimbursement.
  4. Respond to requests for information requested by governmental agencies related to Medicare DSH, bad debts, wage index, and medical education, State surveys, and other third-party audits.
  5. Responsible for data pulls from Medicare PS&R system and other published government sites for supporting reimbursement special projects and for financial impact analysis of annual rate changes. 
  6. Must stay abreast of current governmental reimbursement regulation.   Provides training and technical support as necessary

    • Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.


  • Minimum Experience:
    • 1-3 years experience with Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting
    • Healthcare finance background preferred


  • Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience


  • Required Courses:
    • Accounting/finance


  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills; analytical skills; able to work well in a team
