Position Summary:

General Summary:
Under general supervision, assists class participants with becoming more confident about managing falls by coaching them in strength training, finding ways to reduce falls, and protecting themselves if patients do fall. The coaches lead group discussion, problem solving strategies, video and gentle physical exercise.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Provides accurate information about fall prevention. Encourages interactive discussion about the concepts and skills presented.
2 Provides skills to assist in fall reduction. Demonstrates and coaches the exercises outlined in the Matter of Balance Program.
3 Acts as a facilitator by helping participants understand ways to reduce falls and protect themselves if patients do fall.
4 Promotes socialization and a solution oriented environment among the participants.

Required Skills

Preferred Matter of Balance Certification; in house certification provided

Knowledge of adult and childhood educational principles

Strong communications skills

Required Experience

Preferred experience within education or health care
