Job Description:
Under general supervision, assists class participants with becoming more confident about managing falls by coaching them in strength training, finding ways to reduce falls, and protecting themselves if patients do fall. The coaches lead group discussion, problem solving strategies, video and gentle physical exercise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Accountabilities:
- Provides accurate information about fall prevention. Encourages interactive discussion about the concepts and skills presented.
- Provides skills to assist in fall reduction. Demonstrates and coaches the exercises outlined in the Matter of Balance Program.
- Acts as a facilitator by helping participants understand ways to reduce falls and protect themselves if patients do fall.
- Promotes socialization and a solution oriented environment among the participants.
NonEssential Accountabilities:
- Fulfills annual minimum training requirements.
- Takes responsibility for the cleanliness and appearance of education facilities and properly maintains department equipment.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as identified.

- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

- Minimum Experience:
- 1 - 3 months
- Pref. Field Of Expertise
- Experience with education or health care
- Minimum Education:
- High School or G.E.D.
- Required Certification:
- A Matter of Balance certification
- Physical Demands:
- Occasional prolonged standing/walking
- Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment
- Skills:
- Knowledge of adult and childhood educational principles
- Strong communications skills
