Surgical Oncologist

Location: WellSpan Medical Group, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Provides a wide range of preventive and acute health care services to individuals of all ages. The Physician performs acts of medical diagnosis or prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures.

WellSpan Surgical Oncology is seeking an additional surgical oncologist to join their established practice in York, PA. This practice is a comprehensive practice serving York and surrounding areas. WellSpan is a nationally recognized and integrated health system. Our strategy is team-based and strongly focused on safety, quality & provider well-being. Position Highlights:

  • Must have completed fellowship in surgical oncology
  • 3-5 years of surgical oncology experience is ideal
  • Enjoy caring for patients at a brand-new cancer center
  • Work with an excellent team of three surgical oncologists and two CRNPs
  • Collegial team of medical & radiation oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, etc.
  • WellSpan Health is an EPIC system and employs 2,000+ providers
  • York Hospital (YH) is a 600-bed Level 1 Trauma Center
  • 21 operating rooms and 3 robots allow for ample block time
  • Referrals from WellSpan's 5 community hospitals across a 6-county area
  • YH has nine residency programs including General Surgery
  • The VP/CMO of the Surgical Service Line is a Surgical Oncologist
  • Collaborate with Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center & Maryland Proton Center

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Boarded in appropriate specialty. Upon Hire Required and
  • Completion of a residency. Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Teaching skills.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Good phone skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service.
  • Organized, sets priorities, and able to multi-task.
